University Council Meeting

21 September 2022

The University Council convened yesterday, 21 September 2022, for the 5th University Council Meeting on the 3rd floor of the Research and Learning Resource Center, with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Assoc. Prof. Ramonito A. Mesina as the presiding chair.

Dr. Danilo B. Solayao, the Vice President for Students’ Life and Development, presented the Supplemental Policy Guidelines on Admission of Transferring and Returning Students. He also addressed the concerns/queries of the UC Voting Members on the curriculum that will be used by transferring and returning students as well as who the authorized person is when it comes to assessing the course descriptions. Dr. Solayao also shared the Proposed Emerald Review Center, which is an amendment to the existing PLMun In-house Review Center. The proposal was approved with modifications and inclusion of the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR).

Dr. Elena E. Presnedi, President Emeritus, and Dean of the College of Accountancy presented to the body the pertinent information on the creation of College of Accountancy. This was followed by the presentation of Dr. Dan Jefferson B. Lopez on the creation of the Institute of Public Policy and Governance, as well as the Proposed Renaming/Translation of Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa to University of Muntinlupa. UC members also voted/chose the proposed logo for IPPG.

Moreover, Dr. Remedios R. Cunanan, the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies and Muntinlupa Teachers Academy shared the Proposed Executive Master’s Program in the University and the Creation of the Muntinlupa Teachers Academy.

For the Institute of Linguistics, Dir. Divine Grace B. Doydoy presented and proposed the renaming of the institute from IL to Center for Languages Development. She shared the future plans and activities in implementing the program which include debates, film showing, etc. Further, Ms. Glorynor Navarro from the Special Needs Education under the College of Teacher Education presented the creation of Multiple Intelligences Development Center.

Finally, VP Mesina discussed the following agenda to the body, Policy Guidelines on Adjunct Faculty, Proposed Establishment of PLMun Adult Education, Proposed Additional Composition of the University Council Members, and Approval of Class Schedule for First Semester AY 2022-2023.

For other matters, Dr. Marites D. Tagulao, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) reported the Recalibrated Physical Education Instructional Delivery to address the current setup and challenges in PE classes.

Lastly, VP Mesina also presented the Policy Guidelines in Commissioning of the PLMun Institutional Sablay, followed by the commissioning of Sablay by the University President to the Management Committee, University Council Voting Members, and Administrative Heads/Directors.
