Disaster Preparedness & Fire Safety Seminar

The Muntinlupa City Department of Disaster Resilience and Management of the City Government of Muntinlupa, in partnership with the PLMun Office of Safety and Health, successfully facilitated the Disaster Preparedness and Fire Safety Seminar among PLMun teaching and non-teaching personnel, yesterday, 09 June 2022, at the Conference Hall of Museo ng Muntinlupa.

The Vice President for Administration, Finance, & Planning, Engr. Cynthia T. Meneses commended the DDRM and Safety & Health Office for conducting this seminar. She also emphasized the need to prevent and/or mitigate the effects of disasters in the City, even in PLMun. The University President, Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, CESE, affirmed the relevance of this seminar. He also raised the importance of the application of these learnings to action plans through Instruction, Research, and Extension services and interventions.

The seminar involved comprehensive discussions on Disaster Preparedness, divided into three sessions, namely, Hydrometeorological Hazards presented by Mr. Leonardo Sese Jr., followed by the Geological Hazards presented by Mr. Marlon Alano, and Family Disaster Preparedness, discussed by Mr. Emelio Jacinto. The discussions highlighted the disaster classifications that we usually experience in the country, as well as the safety precautions and disaster preparedness tips before, during, and after the disaster occurrence. The officers from DDRM also answered the queries and clarifications from the participants during the Question and Answer Session.

Another session on Fire Safety was discussed by Mr. Christopher Lorica, he also addressed some questions from PLMun personnel regarding the use and validity period of Fire Extinguishers. The PLMun Management Committee officials also presented a Certificate of Appreciation to all Resource Speakers.

In closing, PLMun Building Administrator, Engr. Zosima Cahinhinan acknowledged all the individuals and offices behind the success of the seminar. She also reminded the participants to put this learning into practice and to pass it forward, especially to family members and students.
