Muntinlupa Communication Majors and Film Enthusiasts have gathered yesterday, 08 March 2022, for the much-awaited awarding ceremony of the Muntinlupa Independent Film Festival (MIFF), conducted on the 3rd floor of the PLMun Research and Learning Resource Center. 

The event’s theme for this year "Youth: Now, Then, What’s Next?” featured documentaries, vlogs, and short films produced mostly by the students of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun). 

The awarding ceremony was graced by the presence of honorary guests such as the Muntinlupa City Congressman RozzanoRufinoBiazon, Ms. Precious AerykIñosa of the Museo ng Muntinlupa, Mr. Jedidiah Presnedi, PLMun University President Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, CESE, CAS Dean, Dr. MaritesTagulao, as well as the members of the PLMun Management Committee.

The PLMun University President, Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, CESE, expressed his admiration for the students and their entries to MIFF. Dr. Arcega shared his vision and plan for the creative works of the students, that soon they can join Cinemalaya and other Film Institutes in the country. Dr. Arcega also said that the short films and documentaries will be shown on the upcoming PLMun TV. Dr. Arcega affirmed the University’s support to the students’ endeavor.

Further, Cong. RuffyBiazon also showed his support to the students. He described himself as a film enthusiast and he became curious about the films of the students. He envisions that MIFF will grow as a Film Award-giving body that will not just cater to students from Muntinlupa but also from neighboring cities, and can be held next at the Museo ng Muntinlupa.

The Muntinlupa Independent Film Festival (MIFF) is a filmmaking competition organized by the Film Institutional Society of PLMun, for the Muntinlupeños to showcase their talents in filmmaking. The event theme for this year is "Youth: Now, Then, What’s Next?”, which will help to hone and show the skills of the young aspiring filmmakers of Muntinlupa, hoping that in the future, the city will be known as the “Film Centric of the South”. MIFF was founded by CAS faculty member, Mr. Jeff Ronald Rante.
