81st Commemoration of the Araw ng Kagitingan: The Exhibit
January 01, 1970 PLMun Comm

The Institute of
Public Policy and Governance (IPPG), headed by the College Dean, Dr. Dan
Jefferson Lopez, spearheaded the Launching of the 81st Commemoration of the
Araw ng Kagitingan: The Exhibit, earlier this afternoon, at the Main Building
Hallway.
Ms. Shayne
Vinarao, an IPPG faculty member, led the discussion and narration of the
historical events that transpired during the historic battle of Filipino and
American Soldiers against the Imperial Japanese invasion that led to the fall
of Bataan on 9 April 1942. This event also led to the Death March, where close
to 75,000 Filipino and American troops were forced to make a 65-mile march to
prison camps. PLMun employees and officials had a glimpse of the historic
events and stories of the Day of Valor through the photos featured in the Araw
ng Kagitingan Exhibit.
In closing, the
University President, Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, CESE, emphasized the significance
of learning and re-learning one's past, to be able to move forward. He hoped
that the true stories and meanings of our nation's history will not be lost,
rather be preserved and cared for, even by the present generation. –
