The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa successfully conducted the University Annual Conference on 25 August 2022, at the Museo ng Muntinlupa, Centennial Avenue, Tunasan, Muntinlupa City. This happened during the third day of PLMun's weeklong activities in preparation for the upcoming Academic Year 2022-2023.

The first part of the program featured a Holy Mass officiated by Rev. Father Jonathan Cadiz, the parish priest of the Our Lady of the Abandoned Church of Muntinlupa.

The University Annual Conference, with the theme, "Future-proofing PLMun Education and Learning", commenced right after the Holy Mass. The audience was delighted to watch a festive song and dance number by the PLMun Kawani Artists featuring nationalistic songs and costumes.

Dr. Danilo B. Solayao, the Vice President for Student Life and Development greeted the participants and stressed the essence of the Conference through the delivery of his opening remarks. He also encouraged the attendees to continually give their whole hearted service for the sake of the students and other stakeholders.

This was followed by the presentation of participants by Engr. Cynthia T. Meneses, the Vice President for Administration, Finance, & Planning. Engr. Cynthia acknowledged the University officials who spent their valuable time in attending the Conference, as well as the faculty members, and non-teaching employees who graced the event with their presence. Acknowledging the participants further implies the significant and salient role of each personnel to the realization of PLMun's goals and aspirations.

In the direction setting, University President, Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, CESE, briefly recalled the achievements and accomplishments of the University under his leadership in 10 months. He emphasized how significant having a vision and purpose is to remain committed in one's work. Dr. Arcega also laid out the future plans and programs of the University, thus the conduct of the conference that focuses on future-proofing not only the education system but most importantly the faculty members, personnel, and students.

The Resource Speaker, Hon. Maria Anthonette Velasco-Allones, was then introduced by the University Secretary and Director of Planning & Development Office, Prof. Neptali B. Gonzales.

Hon. Allones is the Undersecretary of the Department for Migrant Workers. She was also the former Executive Director of the Career Executive Service Board (CESB).

In her talk, Hon. Allones noted the various effects the pandemic brought both to the professional and personal lives of the people. She stressed the result of a research that shows how social media deeply caused depression and anxiety to people of this generation. She noted how the present generation became vulnerable and impatient brought about by technology advances. According to Hon. Allones, despite of the VUCAD (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous, and Disruptive) world we are facing, we can future-proof our students by providing them with the 21st Century Skills, such as Literacy Skills, Life Skills, and Learning Skills.

While the need to be excellent in Literacy Skills is essential, she emphasized the need to also focus on the Learning Skills which involved the 5 Cs: Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, and Character. Having these skills will allow the younger generation to cope up with the demands of the industry, specifically to their workplace.

Future-proofing education and learning also calls for a commitment to inclusive learning. She noted that the students must always be at the center of what the University does, and no one should ever be left behind.

A Certificate of Appreciation was then awarded to Hon. Allones by the Management Committee Officials and College Deans.
