The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa (PLMun) is now ISO certified. The certification was awarded at the quadrangle of the City Government of Muntinlupa On April 27, 2015 coinciding with the 65th birthday of the “Education Mayor” Atty. Jaime R. Fresnedi.
With the 2015 ASEAN integration, PLMUN’s ISO 9001-2008 Certification is an assurance and a privilege that the University is now at par with the international standards which the stakeholders can be proud of especially the students.
PLMun’s ISO 9001-2008 Certification a prestigious international standardization took effect on April 25 and subject for renewal after three years thus, a periodic surveillance to continually conform, sustain and achieve a recognition at par with the international standards will be implemented.
Likewise, The ISO certification provides an on-going feedback on whether PLMun is performing in reference to quality management standardization in the in classroom management and an attitudinal shift in the staff members to quality-related issues in day to day work processes and hence enables organizations to better operate in terms of clientele (student) satisfaction.
A locally funded higher educational in the southern part of Metro Manila, PLMun provides superior quality and excellent education to the underprivileged yet deserving students of Muntinlupa City. With its thrust and commitment to high standards of academic excellence and global competitiveness PLMun dynamically responds to the demands of the local and international communities. Hence, international standardization is one of each priority.
As one of the priority projects of the City Government,Mayor Jaime R. Fresnedi made sure that ISO re-certification is achieved. Consequently, all frontline services of the City Government including PLMun are challenged to improve productivity, efficiency of services and draw out a strong commitment from all employees in providing quality service for the people of the City of Muntinlupa.
The certification process started with the decision to forge a Memorandum of Agreement with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) the principal agency commissioned to prepare government agencies, including local government units for ISO certification. This partnership with DAP sought for assistance in the formulation and drafting of a Quality Management System (QMS).
A series of orientation-seminars on various ISO requirements such as documentation and the creation of ISO core team as a counterpart of the City Government’s ISO Core Team were conducted. PLMun OIC President Dr. Elena E. Presnedi spearheaded the team as its as Quality Management Representative (QMR) with the following team members: Ms. Cynthia T. Meneses the Deputy QMR; Dr. Leticia T. Villaluz, Internal Auditor and Records/Document Controller; Prof. Sheila C. Guico, Training and education Leader; Engr. Hernando B. Napa, Quality Workplace Leader; Dr. Bonifacio E. Umaclap and Prof. Elmer C. Albacete, Core Process Owners; and Prof. Jose B. Morillo, Support Process Owner
The team began the tedious process of documentation and implementation by the drafting the Quality Management System (QMS) Manual. Then, an internal audit was conducted for corrective actions as well as the final gap assessment prior to the management review.
After the preparations, Stage 1 and 2 audits were conducted on March 12 and April 7 respectively by the BRS Rim of the World Operation Assessment Team, California USA with exemplary ratings.

ISO 9001-2008 is the standard that provides a set of standardized requirement for a quality management system, regardless of what the user organization does, its size or whether it is in the private, or public sector. It is an international standard of quality assurance that represents an international consensus on good quality management practices. Besides quality assurance, customer satisfaction and standardization it has also identified certain requirements such as: customer, system and legal requirements and training competency which gives the organization the idea to manage processes affecting the quality of its products and services.
