College of Business Administration

The birth of the College of Commerce in SY 1991-1992 is a concrete proof of the Pamantasan Ng Lungsod Ng Muntinlupa’s commitment to answer the needs not only of the community but also of the Filipino nation. Cognizance of the paradigm shift that the world today is undergoing, dynamically changing in the field of business and education, it was established to serve as impetus for the progress of the then municipality of Muntinlupa.

The College of Commerce started with seventy-six (76) students during the first semester of 1991. The population has been growing consistently by 25% annually for the first five (5) years. Due to internal problems affecting the institution, there was a temporary phasing out of the program. However, in 1999, the college was revived which gave rise to the dramatic increase in the number of business students. An average annual increase by 20% from school year 2000 up to the present sustains student’s population growth rate.

Initially, the College offered Bachelor of Science in Commerce Majors in Marketing and Management.

By school year 2004, after a careful study of the management and a thorough re-evaluation of the needs of the industry, the college opened the new disciplines in Human Resource Development Management and Financial Management Accounting. This broadens and strengthens the program offerings in different areas of concentration.

In the same year, curriculum revision was undertaken with the objective of keeping abreast with the trends and demands of the industry and gain competitive advantage, nonetheless satisfying the standard set forth by the Commission on Higher Education.

By school year 2006, with the end view of keeping pace with the demands of local and international business environment to become globally competitive, the adoption of the degree Program nomenclature Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in lieu of BS in Commerce was made as per CHED guidelines.

Beginning school year 2007, the previously offered BS Accountancy Program was revived/offered not only to satisfy the Industry requisite but to provide avenue for the youths to pursue professional careers in accounting and related fields.

The Plum’s College of Business Administration is keeping up to produce competent business professionals, with knowledge of global concerns and whose lives are guided by moral principles. It persists to upgrade the standard of education to answer the needs of times, in line with the government campaign to promote Filipino Entrepreneurship in the Country.

The College of Business Administration FACULTY

The faculty members originated from diverse fields of competence and specialization, mostly with Masters and Doctorate degrees. They are student-oriented and have acquired a wide range of training and exposure which are translated to students by employing varied teaching methodologies. These diversified backgrounds provide the students with an intellectually rich, stimulating, and exciting classroom environment.

Admission

The PLMun College of Business Administration adopts a Selective Admission Policy accepting only those who are likely to benefit most from PLMun education and will excel in their chosen field.

  1. Incoming freshmen students should have a general weighted average(Form 137), of at least 80% for BS in Business Administration and 85% for BS Accountancy to qualify.
  2. Must have good moral character
  3. Students who will begin majoring should pass the Qualifying Exam.
  4. Business Administration students should maintain a minimum grade of 2.5 (80%-81%) in all major subjects.
  5. Student applicants for BS Accountancy must take and pass the ENGLISH PROFICIENCY TEST.

After proper assessment, student who cannot maintain the grade requirement will shift to other major course where he/she is best suited.
